The smashing pup who barely knows what it’s like to have a home of his own

A one-year-old husky cross has been waiting more than half his life to find a forever family. Loki arrived at Manchester Dogs Trust when he was just five months old, but has ‘not had much interest’ from potential adopters.

Loki was given up to the charity due to his owner’s ill health, but months on and the beautiful dog still hasn’t found a place to call home. Now, the rescue charity are appealing for families to apply for the pooch in a bid to find him a home for the summer.

A spokeswoman for the Dogs Trust charity said: “Loki came into our care when he was five months old, due to his owner’s ill health – he’s unfortunately not had much interest at all, even though he’s a smashing young pup! He’s a real all-rounder, seems to love everything about life.”

Loki is looking for a home where there are two or more people in the family, and could live with children over the age of 14. He doesn’t like to be left alone, with volunteers saying he will ‘become your shadow’.

Dogs Trust added: “Loki would really benefit from a multi-carer household, with no initial leaving hours. He’s hoping to find a committed family who will be willing to work on building up his leaving hours gradually, so he can learn alone time can be nice.

“He is a very active and playful boy, with a boisterous side, so he would be best suited to living with children aged fourteen and over, who will be happy with a young and bouncy pup.” This young dog loves snuggles and has ‘heaps of love to give’, he enjoys meeting new people and playing with toys, is happy to head out in the car on an adventure and loves to meet new canine friends.

“Loki can be overly friendly to all dogs,” said Dogs Trust. “He will want a family who can continue working on his socialisation and encourage him to politely play and greet other dogs.”

Alongside this, this energetic boy will need a secure garden and an active family to take him on exciting walks where he can burn off some energy. Loki has also previously lived with cats, so could live with a ‘confident’ cat and other small animals.

If you’ve got any questions about Loki and would like to welcome a rescue dog into the family, please check the Manchester Dogs Trust website for more information.
